It was a wonderful three-day retreat in Baddeck, at Baadeck yarns (if a sheep said Badddeck, she would bleat, "Baadeck!"). We wandered between the spacious workshop area and the exquisite shop below, passing through a lovely little garden with fresh veggies and strawberries spilling over. The local ice cream, called Marvelous Moos, is available only in Nova Scotia I believe, and came in very generous single servings. Pat Fields, proprietress of Baadeck yarns, ordered in 75 of the containers for us . . . the day I left (several days after the end of the retreat) I had one for breakfast. Yum! Pat specializes in Fleece
Artist Yarns and we were surrounded by skeins in every possible colorway
. . . even more delicious than the ice cream. It was a truly wonderful
retreat, and we plan to do another one within the next year and a half.
I am probably overbooked for the coming year already (see my web site
at www.catbordhi.com),
but want to try a winter retreat - just think, knitting by the fire, purring
cats (they have 3), cross country skiing, ice skating, playing in the
snow, and more knitting. If this sounds good to you, contact Pat at baadeckyarns@ns.sympatico.ca
and let her know you are interested. It will probably be in the winter
of 2007 (wish it could be this winter!!!). Cat Bordhi |
